Grants Calendar

The following table (indicative only) provides a yearly overview of the major research grant rounds. Detailed and up-to-date application timetables are available for ARC schemes and NHMRC schemes are available from the Research Office webpage.

The latest information, including closing dates, for these and other grant opportunities is made available the Research Office website.

Please Note: To review and send applications, the Research Office requires draft applications 3 weeks before the granting body's closing date, to allow Research Office staff to check each application for correctness:

to allow the applicant time to make any recommended revisions
to have the budget approved by the Finance Office
to have the application signed by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research)

Communications with grants staff in the Research Office

Researchers are reminded that the best way to contact grants staff in the Research Office is via email to grants@mq.edu.au. Using this email address will ensure requests and applications are easily accessed and dealt with as quickly and efficiently as possible, regardless of staff absences and other email traffic.

Expressions of Interest

Some external grant schemes request Expressions of Interest (EOI) ahead of full grant applications. It is a university Requirement that all such EOIs are submitted to the granting body via the Research Office and that approval first be obtained from divisional management. Recently several EOIs have been sent directly to granting bodies by researchers which, has caused some difficulty.

The Research Office is currently developing a process for EOIs and until that is published, please make sure that the Research Office receives a copy of the EOI at least one week before the submission date.
