Educational Research at Macquarie

Educational Research at Macquarie (eRAM) is the research digest of the Australian Centre for Educational Studies (ACES) at Macquarie University. It communicates the diversity and quality of research effort emanating from the collaborative research culture within ACES. The research and development work described is the product of individual and team efforts of students and academic staff.

Each item included in this new research digest contains a description of an individual or team research project conducted by a student, an individual academic, or a team located in ACES. The range of papers covers Masters research projects, several successful ARC grant projects, and everything in between! Several projects include collaborators from other institutions in Australia and from around the globe.

The first issue represents an extraordinary diversity of interests, methodologies, and areas of expertise in an astounding array of topics related to the core business of education and learning!

In addition to descriptions of individual/team research projects, each issue will have an additional section relevant to the research function of the division. For example, the first issue includes a section containing the abstracts of all student research presentations delivered during the Australian Centre for Educational Studies (ACES) Post Graduate Research Conference held at Macquarie University in November, 2006. Future issues will incorporate, for example, descriptions of Visiting Scholars from around the globe who spend time here in the Division; or sketches of the purpose, goals, and outputs of the research centres housed in ACES.

The goals of this publication are simple: to communicate, to encourage, and to learn. eRAM acts as a publicity and marketing tool for ACES within the university and outside the university. It also acts as an invitation to peers and colleagues, and to prospective higher degree research students, to become involved in the educational research being conducted at Macquarie University.

The number of project descriptions submitted for publication are sufficient to fill two volumes, and indicates that the research culture in ACES is alive and well, and growing.
